⚔️ The Blades Of Gixa Kickstarter
The Blades Of Gixa, my #dungeon23 megadungeon, is LIVE now on Kickstarter!

#dungeon23, created by Sean McCoy, was a challenge to draw one dungeon room every day, one floor each month, for the entire year of 2023. Most who took it on didn't finish. And for most who did, the end of 2023 marked the end of the project. Not so for me. I started late and finished late, but I finished. But also, I'm still working on it.

While the project started as a way to just get in the habit of making something every day, for me it turned into something unexpected: from the stream of consciousness and improvisation, a world started to form. Not the most coherent world perhaps, but a world that surprised me, interested me, a world that I wanted to explore further.

It interested other people, too. Sean McCoy, Zedeck Siew, Runehammer, Skullfungus and many others reached out after seeing my posts. I've also gotten numerous requests to publish the project in response to pictures I've posted online. Some asked for a book, others a poster. So I'm doing both: as of this post going out, I've launched a Kickstarter campaign to publish my #dungeon23 megadungeon, now called The Blades Of Gixa.
My stab at #dungeon23 was unusual in that I took a unique approach to creating my dungeon: I used a calendar-style planner and drew my rooms directly on their corresponding days, so that the shape of each month on the calendar would dictate the shape of each floor. This also led me to mix my keying right in with the drawings. The result almost feels like a theme park map in places, which was a style I hadn't seen used before.

So, even though I've drawn all the days, there's still plenty to do! I hope you enjoy this project and decide to back the Kickstarter. I'm really excited about all of the things we're making, and we're taking the time and effort to do them all right: I have no desire to make things I wouldn't be excited and proud to have myself, so everything is going to be gorgeous and well-made with a lot of attention to detail!
