tat v0.4.1

A new update for the tabletop audio tool, with fixes and drag-and-drop!

tat v0.4.1

Hi everyone, and happy holidays! I've put out a new update for π”±π”žπ”±, the tabletop audio tool I made as part of the Warped Beyond Recognition Kickstarter. Access to tat is still limited to backers of that Kickstarter and Paradiso members at the Expert tier and up, as I don't want to do a full public release until it feels a bit more complete. Fortunately, this update brings us a few steps closer to that goal!

πŸ’‘
If you have access to tat via your Paradiso membership, you can claim and access it via your account page. If you have access to tat via the WBR Kickstarter, you got a link to claim it in your email. If you've already claimed it, go directly to its itch.io page to get the update!

The biggest changes are actually under the hood and will hopefully go unnoticed by tat users, but they set me up well for future feature development. The changes you will notice are:

UI Scroll Sensitivity

Windows users have reported that using the scroll wheel to control volume and opacity on the asset list doesn't work very well β€” for some reason, it's way too sensitive. To address this, I've added a new setting in the settings menu called UI scroll sensitivity multiplier, which defaults to 1. Reduce this to make the scrolling on the asset list less sensitive, and increase it to make it more sensitive, to your taste. User ReEvolve has reported that a setting of 0.05 works well for them. If you adjust this setting, I'd love to hear what you set yours to! Once I have more feedback, I'll probably pick a new default for Windows.

Drag-and-Drop

You can now drag and drop files directly into tat instead of clicking the add media button! For some reason, I was having trouble getting this in before updating the underlying code, but once I did that it was a piece of cake. Currently supported file types are:

  • Images: png, gif, jpg, jpeg, webp
  • Sounds: wav, m4a, mp3, ogg, flac

Show/Hide Media

There are now little eye πŸ‘οΈ icons at the top of the sounds and images lists. Click these to hide all sounds and all images, respectively. This can be nice if you want to move an image that's completely covered by a sound area, for example. Just hide the sounds, move the image, and re-enable them!

Note: A known issue with this is that the edit handles don't get hidden. This is because of how the layering works under the hood. I'm looking into it!

Bugfixes & Tweaks

  • Updated social media links on the about page.
  • Reset to default user settings now works properly.
  • Made the polygon middle anchors look nicer.
