About
Warped Beyond Recognition is a module for the Mothership Sci-Fi Horror RPG in which players explore a research vessel in deep space, uncover the site of a terrible series of experiments, and discover their ultimate purpose — if the test subjects don’t get to them first!
Warped Beyond Recognition is the first Mothership module from Quadra, creator of the TRAAA.SH RPG blog, featuring the Mothership community’s favorite house rules and various tools for Wardens to streamline and spice up their games.
Quadra has a ton of experience running Mothership, having been a Warden for a campaign running for over 50 sessions — a campaign which started with a homebrew adventure that became the first prototype of this very module! If you want to see how an early version of Warped played, check out the first few entries in the serialization of the campaign:
Quotes
“[Warped Beyond Recognition] is THE Mothership project I’ve been waiting for since we first came out with Mothership. One of my all time favorite adventures. I cannot recommend this highly enough!”
– Sean McCoy, Creator of Mothership RPG
"[Warped Beyond Recognition] is so polished you can see your face in it. It has its own soundtrack, unbelievably, and that's not the only surprise. It also comes with rules for if you want to have a psychic player character! Spoiler: you don't. Don't do that to your poor, poor character. But also, you know, definitely do. It's awesome."
– Quinns, of Quinns Quest and Shut Up And Sit Down
“I am inspired and awed by Warped Beyond Recognition’s tremendous good-idea density, ingenious approach to NPCs-as-puzzles and elegant information design.”
– Ian Yusem, Creator of HULL BREACH and Picket Line Tango

Limited Edition Print Module
This is a special, limited-run edition of the book for people who want something a bit more high-end and collectible. It will feature an alternate cover, the paper stock will be thicker and nicer, and it will be riso-printed with some wild inks! But don’t worry: the content will be exactly the same, so you’re not missing out on any part of the module if you go for one version or the other! Think of this as being like the Criterion Edition of the book ;) 32 pages.
BRAIN DRAIN Patch
A patch is the quintessential add-on for a Mothership module: each player character has at least one on their jumpsuit, battle dress, leather jacket, etc. The module features patches the player characters can find and now one of those patches has been made real.
KEMC Tee
Let’s be real: game shirts are generally pretty bad. Most studios just slap their logo on a cheap tee and call it a day, resulting in a garment that’s not very aesthetically interesting or even particularly nice to wear. We’re not interested in that, so instead we’ve worked with KEMC (MULTISURFACE BODY), a Seattle-based artist whose wild and strange screenprints are hands-down our favorite shirt designs, and Glass Embroidery, one of the few companies making quality clothes for video game studios, to design a high-quality heavyweight cotton t-shirt that you will not only be proud to wear, but which features quality materials and thoughtful details that’ll take it from “game swag” to “coolest shirt you own.”
The shirt is heavyweight cotton in cement gray with front and back screenprinting and embroidered detail.
Module PDF
A fully-hyperlinked PDF of the module comes with each print purchase, or can be purchased seperately.
Soundtrack by Galen Drew
Designed to be listened to independently or while running the module: each test subject and each floor of the ship has its own theme. Came with all Kickstarter reward tiers. Available for seperate purchase, comes with the Warped Audio Mixer Tool.
Warped Audio Mixer Tool
A multi-platform desktop application that lets Wardens easily control and mix the soundtrack while running the game. Came with all Kickstarter reward tiers. Comes with purchase of the soundtrack.
Tabletop Audio Mixer Tool
Backers also get an independent application which allows Wardens/DMs to import their own images and audio and design their own soundscapes for their tabletop scenarios. Available for seperate purchase.
